Where science becomes industrial application
FIELDS OF INNOVATION IN RESEARCH
Our work has a clear goal: to secure the technological advantage of our customers. In close cooperation with partners from industry and science, we develop innovative coating systems using PVD processes that go beyond the current state of the art.
This results in solutions that not only master current challenges, but also meet future requirements in terms of productivity, quality and sustainability. Development at ANTACON means making innovations usable for your applications at an early stage and thus creating decisive competitive advantages.
COALA project launched on March 1, 2026.
The research project Coatings for Advanced Layered Architectures (COALA) focuses on how complex-shaped components can be coated reliably to achieve long-lasting performance. The project is being conducted by the Laser Institute of Hochschule Mittweida (LHM). Funded under the ESF Plus programme for STEM professionals in the Free State of Saxony (InnoTeam), the project will run for two years. The project partners are the Laser Institute of Hochschule Mittweida and IFU GmbH – Private Institute for Environmental Analysis.
The aim of the project, which runs from March 1, 2026, to February 29, 2028, is to further develop pulsed laser deposition (PLD) so that complex three-dimensional geometries can also be coated uniformly and reliably. To achieve this, motion sequences, process parameters, and system technology will be carefully coordinated and adapted. The technologies developed during the project will then be transferred directly into practical applications.
The project opens up new opportunities, particularly for sensor and measurement systems, by providing components with improved protection against mechanical stress and environmental influences while significantly extending their service life. COALA represents an important step towards making advanced coating technologies available for complex applications while further strengthening Saxony as a centre of technological innovation.
