By combining the laser deposition process with the laser tempering process, ANTACON GmbH from Mittweida has succeeded in producing extremely hard DLC coatings with low internal stresses. The mechanical properties of these coatings can be analyzed quantitatively using Anton Paar’s ultra-nano hardness test. Indentation hardnesses of up to HIT = 61GPa were measured.
