IQ Innovation Award in the Automotive Cluster: Extremely durable coating protects tools and machine parts from wear
The wear and tear caused by friction on machine parts and tools is particularly high in vehicle manufacturing. Antacon GmbH, based in Mittweida, Saxony, has developed a process with which super-hard carbon coatings can be applied for the first time without stress and therefore with a long service life. The company was awarded the Automotive Cluster Prize of the 18th IQ Innovation Award Central Germany on Thursday evening at Köthen Castle for its innovation, which minimizes friction and thus wear and tear and makes products last up to ten times longer.
“Wear and tear caused by friction in industry consumes 23 percent of global energy consumption and costs 35 billion euros per year in Germany alone. This makes it clear that super-hard coatings are a hidden champion, so to speak, when it comes to conserving energy resources. Antacon GmbH convinces...Go to press release >>
